He’s an FFL and those were where the customers lived.

Yes, sorry for the lack of clarification.

It seems there's a lot of people that are upset with the wait time and then you have the debate on transferring after 10 days. King County and Kirkland have both said they're wanting the shops to get an answer within 10 days. They understand the laws and respect that it's the dealer's interpretation to transfer after 10 days without a reply. They prefer that it doesn't happen and it's why they offered to allow dealers to call and verify what was going on. In my opinion, they're doing the best they can with the staff that they got. No need to vilify the dealers or the PDs. It's the lawmakers that have created the situation.

The law is clear, if the PD doesn't get off it's butt and do the bcg, you can transfer after 10 days. If some agency is trying to guilt trip or coerce others into believing that's not the case then fuck them.

This is about transparency. There was a rumor some agencies were illegally returning fake delays/holds because they didn't feel like doing the work in a timely manner. This thread will help spot trends like that.

Had a check with Des Moines PD. They took the full 10 days and faxed the approval to me at 9:32 p.m. of the 10th day.

Skamania county can be notoriously slow, but I had sent to my FFL a revolver from across the country recently (after July1st) and it took “only” five days for the okay. These days I guess I’ll take that....grudgingly.

I guess I should have been more clear. They stated they would take the full ten days for the background even on a handgun.

Yesterday I went in to my local pawn shop do the checks for a handgun they just received for me, and they told me that they would not release the pistol to me until the checks come back, regardless of the 10 days or not. And I have a concealed pistol license.

Please contact a 2nd Amendment Lawyer. Contact SAF, GOA and NRA and see what they say about backing you. These groups always say they need actual "intrusions" (my word, not a legal term)

YOUR RIGHTS ARE BEING VIOLATED.
