But the thread immediately got derailed into bitching about Brad, and nobody posted the practices of other gun shops.

Debating the rationale behind an action needn't be seen as merely "bitching" or insulting. It seems to me that there has only been constructive criticism and discussion however uncomfortable the subject. (at least that's where I'm coming from)> the only parties I have seen acting unreasonably would be the LE that told him to go do THEIR job once they returned the tardy denial.

That = GFY

I would agree with that except..... I live on the east side and our legislators HATE Seattle and the entire coast lol.

No additional info on training is out there yet ... so hopefully FFLs will simply go by the law as it now stands. If you hand them a training certificate that meets those requirements, hopefully they will accept it.

I'm going to play the dumb guy here but where do I get to read the requirements?

(a) The purchaser provides proof that he or she has completed a
recognized firearm safety training program within the last five
years that, at a minimum, includes instruction on:
(i) Basic firearms safety rules;
(ii) Firearms and children, including secure gun storage and
talking to children about gun safety;
(iii) Firearms and suicide prevention;
(iv) Secure gun storage to prevent unauthorized access and use;
(v) Safe handling of firearms; and
(vi) State and federal firearms laws, including prohibited
firearms transfers.
The training must be sponsored by a federal, state, county, or
municipal law enforcement agency, a college or university, a
nationally recognized organization that customarily offers firearms
training, or a firearms training school with instructors certified
by a nationally recognized organization that customarily offers
firearms training. The proof of training shall be in the form of a
certification that states under the penalty of perjury the training
included the minimum requirements

OK, got it.

Exactly. So if I show up at the gun store with a certificate that meets those requirements, I sure hope they’ll accept it without the “need” to have more requirements levied by government agencies.

I’m admittedly coming in late, but has “ A recognized firearm training program” been defined? If not I foresee a big SNAFU inbound..

Seems fairly straight forward as long as the "certificate" states clearly that it covered all 6 of the basics.
The interesting times will be had when the certificate either isn't clear about stating the above or only covers 5 of the 6.

Oh boy....let the fun begin..... :popcorn:
