I'm helping a buddy with an AR10 build. He finished an 80% lower and now we need to build the upper.

Does anyone have an upper clamp/vise for an AR10 that I can borrow? I don't want to go buy one just for one build.

I know I can just use a barrel vise but I like to clamp the upper.

I have a 308 reaction rod (even better than upper vise jaws) that you're welcome to come up and use, but it's about 2.5-3 hrs drive for you each way. IIRC the rod was only ~$60 from Brownells.

If you're not familiar with these - I clamp a 1/2" breaker in the vise and set the rod on it, pointed up. The upper just sits over the rod and the barrel extension lugs lock in place so you can tighten the barrel nut. It's about as easy as it gets, and the upper doesn't get squeezed or torqued on.

Thanks for the offer. I think the gas and time involved are more than just buying the blocks.

I found this:
https://www.plastixrevolution.net/collections/ar10-upper-receiver-vise-blocks/products/223-ar-15-308-ar-10-upper-receiver-vise-block

Seems like $24 to my door will be the cheap/easy button.

Thanks for the offer. I went ahead and ordered the set I linked above. They work for AR15s too so I figure I’ll be able to use them again.
