Tons of openings left. While in the job you will be issued a shiny new (or newish) Glock 17. Retirement is earned at 2% per year, based on the average of your high 5 consecutive years, OT is included in this average. Great medical and dental, matching (capped) deferred compensation. 13 paid holidays a year, plus annual leave earned on a graduating scale. Meet new and interesting people.

Clot shot policy? I could not see my way to taking a job with anyone mandating the clot shot as an employment requirement. Just can't accept working for people who do not do their due diligence, or are cowards.

Sorry for the late reply, NO VACCINE MANDATES with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
Also, new rate of pay is $34+ an hour. The first year, plus the $10,000 hire on bonus.

You left out that it's the Fire/LEO retirement that lets you retire at 55 without losing money like with the normal PERs (every other state, city, and county employee). Something about the physical requirements. Is there an equivalent to PERS3? Only 1% per year, but you can contribute to a fund that potentially will earn more?

You would think it was LEOFF2 Retirement, and that would be awesome, but it is PSERS. Basically they needed a retirement system for people with guns, that aren’t police. The Corrections job comes with powers of arrest, but only on duty. So the no penalty with only 5 years on to retire hits at 60, but most of our guys punch out before that birthday.
