I have a Magnavox D8443. Yes it is rad, and yes God himself has smiled upon me with this fine device’s presence. It does however deserve some TLC.

Radio works fine, will play a cassette all the way through. The problem is it plays the cassette about 15% too slowly. I’m looking for someone who can diagnose and fix it. Someone with patience and time to watch YouTube lessons could probably do it. Any leads appreciated.

Well, there is this youtube video. Has the belt been replaced?

BTW - piano music is about the most sensitive to speed fluxuations. Got a Bruce Hornsby tape?

Shoot Guntrader a pm. I believe he used to own an electronic store or repair biz back in the day.

As said, if the belt is worn it will cause hysteresis (where the pulled belt stretches more than it normally would, and results in lower RPMs). Some models use a variable resistor pot to tune the speed for playback, and you should try to change the belt before going this route.

It looks like it will be me or nobody, so I’ll stock up on iced tea and calm music!
