so i called the marksman because manufacturer states they are a firstline dealer. and to what ive found, they are the only firstline dealer in washington? anyways, i call marksman, and they say they dont give price over the phone. whats the reasoning behind that? so that way they can get me in the door? is it not common practice to know if its worth it to drive somewhere? even if i go there and dont like the price, i still know the price. Is me knowing the price over the phone so hard?

they claim its because other gun shops call to try and get prices so they can beat them.

still doesnt change that a dealer can walk in and ask for price. also with marksman being only firstline dealer, i doubt other dealers would be able to mark price down as much as firstline discount.

It’s a cultural thing. Similar to people that for some reason don’t feel like sharing how much they paid for something or post ridiculous situations they experienced but leave out name of business.
Coulda posted this in the things that annoyed you today thread.

Perhaps they are bound contractually with SA to only give pricing for that line of products face to face to those with valid credentials.

That doesn’t jibe with what Mashie posted, and others experience.

That is just how their owner is. It is really unfortunate because I literally live 3 miles away.
I have had great dealings with the staff and enjoyed the range, but I have not walked thru their door in years because of the owner and how he treated me and others the last few times I went in.

Yep, I’ve heard this many times. It finally happened to me when I brought a guy down who had cash in his pocket…wanted to buy 3 guns. Never again.

Is this maybe like Glock’s map (minimum advertised pricing)?

I only go there for the range when my step-daughter wants to go shooting.
In my many times there, I haven't seen much at prices I'd be willing to pay regardless. Just my $0.02...

I've never had an issue with them, but I've only done one transfer and one Gunbroker purchase. Their prices looked pretty reasonable compared to other local shops.

Apparently it now depends who you talk to. Talked with a different guy over phone and was more helpful this time. But there now out of the firearm and don’t know when they’ll get another.

Was in there today and talked to four guys, all of whom were great to talk to. Was there for gunsmithing, not for purchasing, but it was a good experience.
