I decided to buy some shirts... I need clothes. I never really treat myself so I figured I'd spend a couple hundred on clothes.. again.. something I never do.. I needed a change.. and decided to order online.

Hardaddy.com

Yup, took that gamble and lost.

Good prices, too bad stuff is like 2 sizes too small.

My normal size is a hair too big, so I ordered the same size thinking even if it's smaller, it'd fit..

Yeah, nope.

Length is super short (I'm 6'2"), even though I ordered a tall.

Easily 2 sizes too small, and it even had a tag on there saying something to the effect of 'some shrinkage is normal and can't be avoided, follow the care instructions closely'... Well, if it's too small, as it sits, no way it'll even come close to fitting if it's supposed to shrink.

Went to go return it all... and.. oh look, I have to ask their permission to return things....

'We'll get back to you within 48 hours'....

Interesting...

It shipped from the states, and arrived pretty quick, but I notice the return address is in China...despite their refund policy saying items are shipped back to a U.S. warehouse (I looked before I bought) so they're probably hoping people don't return stuff knowing it's gonna cost them half of their return in shipping fees.

Fuck these guys.

I think a chargeback is in my future.

First, I paid through paypal.... I submitted an order for, let's say $200.10... I then got a notification from Paypal 2 days later 'The seller updated the pricing and changed the amount you were charged to $200.16'.. Wait, WHAT?! How the FUCK do you 'update the charged amount' and charge me more? I didn't agree to that, and I don't give a flying fuck if it's 6 cents, you agreed to a fucking price. I immediately filed a dispute, providing a copy of the original amount showing it was $200.10, and Paypal responded saying they needed the 'original receipt'.. Yeah.. .I'm pissed...

These shirts were almost the same size as my existing shirts, but despite being 'tall' were also short, and had weird fit and angle. Some parts were WAY too big, and other parts were WAY too small. Hard to explain but it was just...weird.. 'China shirt' pretty much sums it up.

These also came with a 'these will shrink' notice... So, they too, will be going back.

I did get some T-shirts, which actually fit well....and were indeed 'tall'....I do expect them to shrink a bit, but shouldn't be an issue. As much as I want to return these on principle alone, they're about half of what I'd normally pay for T-shirts, and I'll be keeping them.

They charge $10.99 flat to return something.

Both of these stores I would NOT do business with.

Yeah. Amazon Basics big and tall was made by whomever makes the stuff for DXL, half of it was branded as "DXL for Amazon Basics" or something like that.

It's all but vanished. Which sucks, because they had some decent stuff.

I did find Dickies shorts, which are comfortable, and pretty cheap @ $25/pr.

So... update.

KingSize.com allowed returns with a ~$10 processing fee and returned to a local store that accepts 'HappyReturns' which happened to be a Gamestop near me. So, basically, I added $30 to the dozen shirts I am keeping, which, is still considerably less than I would have paid elsewhere. ~$10ea with shipping and the return fee spread across them, vs the $25-30 EACH if I bought somewhere else.

I would have had the option to do a free exchange that they would pay shipping on, but because I paid with paypal, that wasn't an option. It was dropped off on Saturday, and refund was in my account on Tue. Most of which is probably a delay from Paypal's end.

So, my initial concerns were unfounded, thankfully.. and in the end, all things considered, is a good deal. If you can order a size or 2 bigger than normal, you should be fine.

Hardaddy.com

This one threw me for a loop.

I had to request permission for a return.. but there's a reason for that, that I didn't know.

They give you the option of keeping the merchandise, getting a 50% refund, and an add'l 20% off coupon for a future purchase, or shipping it back on your dime for a full refund, to an address in California. I could probably fit it in a small priority mail flat rate box, so about $13 in shipping if I went that route. Since my order was only ~$100, spending another $15 just to get $100 back seemed like I was losing money, whereas paying half (~7$ a shirt) for a slightly smaller casual shirt that I can wear open instead of buttoning up, seemed like a good deal. I opted for the 50% refund and keep items, and I will report back when that refund is processed.

All in all, while annoyed as fuck with the incorrect sizing, I didn't end up too horribly bad off, as I got T-shirts considerably less than I could find anywhere else, and the shirts I did get, even though not the right size, are still worth it based on the price.

----

My initial reviews on both of these places was gonna be a 1/5 or maybe 1.5/5, but their return policies are reasonable, and seem to actually want to make the customer happy... so, I'd probably bump my review up to 3 or 3.5 stars... maybe I'm just spoiled with Amazon where I return anything for any/no reason and it's just back in my account within an hour.

Would I buy from either of them again? Probably not.

Would I suggest someone who might be able to order a size or 2 larger? Maybe - if you're on a budget and know what you're getting. I mean, $10-12 for a shirt is pretty damn cheap these days..

I am a XXL to XXXL size. I find Kohl's and JC Penney is my best bet.

Since I've got stubby legs and a long torso it helps to buy in person so I can gauge how they fit.

Once I find a brand and style that fits I am comfortable buying them online. Even then sometimes things change. Shorts that are shorter, even though they are the same SKU # save for a color difference.

That sizing seems about right with most anything ordered from China. I ordered a soft shell on amazon that was Chinese made. Tall and a size larger than I normally wear as soft shells are almost always somewhat form fitting and I wanted to more easily conceal. About a size or two too small.

Even the one I just got from Varustleka (a Finnish company) was tighter than expected, but better. Just another reason I need to stop being a lazy fat fuck.

My facility manager ordered a 2X or 3X hoodie that was chinese made. He gave it to a coworker who wears a Large or maybe 1XL and it was about the right size.
