I think if anyone is shooting at you while you are driving, most likely it will be most lethal from the front/back. Ymmv

Over here on highway 509, we have folks that like to (randomly?) shoot cars every now and then so cheap door panel plates aren’t a bad idea at all.

I was thinking that as well. Composite materials are becoming cheaper and are lighter than full on steel.

But interesting concept to but a full panel against the backset, say form inside the the trunk could offer a lot of protection.
