I'm a fan of a the idea of capital punishment for thugs who commit violent crimes against strangers. Judged by a jury of solid citizens and carried out quickly.
There are a few downsides, but the idea of a thug attacking or killing a complete stranger ? Nope. No place for that in my world view. ETA : The list of exigent circumstances should be very carefully detailed and the jury picked carefully. I am sensitive to the argument that trusting the state to carry out killing is a bit naive and/or trusting of an institution that seems to have abandoned all common sense. |

My niece was murdered quite a few years ago by a piece of shit gangbanger thug. If he was finally Id'd.... I'd like to see a sum of the money spent on this guy so far. Police to arrest him, public defender time, yadda yadda yadda. Over the course of 75 arrests, those costs can't be insignificant.
