Starting Saturday there is a ban on shootig on state land do to dry forest. Just a heads up https://komonews.com/news/local/statewide-shooting-ban-goes-into-effect-saturday-in-effort-to-prevent-wildfiresQuote: OLYMPIA, Wash. - A temporary shooting ban goes into effect starting Saturday on all state lands in an effort to prevent wildfires, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
The action follows an outdoor burn ban on all Department of Natural Resources land that went into effect at midnight on Thursday.
Earlier this week Governor Jay Inslee declared a wildfire state of emergency for all 39 counties. The declaration allows the state to call in the National Guard to help relieve already exhausted fire crews.
“Weeks of dry weather have raised the threat of wildfire on both sides of the Cascades, and it’s critical for all of us to avoid doing anything that could damage or destroy fish and wildlife habitat,” Cynthia Wilkerson, manager of the department’s Lands Division, said in a press release Thursday.
Under the WDFW's temporary rule, target shooting and other gun use will be prohibited, but discharge of a firearm for legal hunting will still be permitted.

That’s silly, I have not shot all summer and just planned a trip with my kids.

Sounds like DNR land is still ok to shoot on.

I only saw information about it on the WDFW website. The DNR website has no mention of a ban. I still plan on heading out to the Triangle Pit this weekend and checking it out.

It was just on the news...this includes all land managed by the State of Washington. Hunting...still legal.
And now, I'll take the time to put in a shameless plug for Evergreen Sportsman's Club. Excellent facilities, VERY friendly staff--including the RSO's.
Yes, you will have to pay a range fee...but, what the heck?! Come on out and SHOOT!
And...for those who live around Grays Harbor/Thurston/Mason County...I want to do some powder therapy this weekend, probably on Sunday. I can meet a couple of people and take you our to my other club, Grays Harbor Sportsman's Club. PM me if you want to go.

I am assuming this happened because of the claim that shooting at tannerite is what has caused the wildfires in Idaho.

under what authority are they instituting this ban? any specific RCW or just because Joe-Bob says so? What is the penalty for non-compliance? https://wdfw.wa.gov/news/aug0218a/in any case, there go my plans for target shooting at a boat launch this weekend....
