I didn't want to derail Chuck's security camera thread so I'm making this separate. Will merge later if necessary.

I have a 4 camera hard wired Laview system at my house. The hard drive is corrupted and wont record any more. Any recommendations on particular brands or where to look for a replacement DVR? The cameras are in good shape and hard wired so I'd rather not replace them, just the box if possible.

Thanks!

Why do you need a whole dvr if only the hard drive is toast?

Pick up a purple western digital hdd, avoid SSDs because you will be writing all the time.

Well the first issue is that I'm not even sure the system is serviceable in that regard, but it might be.

The real issue is that it's the system that came with the house I just bought. Their online program won't let me register the camera system to my Laview mobile app since the previous owner had it registered to his. And having mobile access to my camera system is something I definitely want.

I'd just like to go ahead and replace the system with another hard wired 4 camera system, without having to replace the cameras.

Keep the wire. Identify a compatible NVR system with the cameras. If none exists, then replace the cameras too. That is if you can’t find a system on Craigslist for cheap.
