I saw that on the news tonight; they kept saying "they don't know how he did it..."

It's called an accident...

It was like they wanted it to be a bigger story than it was....

It's really not an accident, Guns don't just "go off" regardless of the Media spin. It's an ND, the trigger was pulled with the Muzzle pointed at his Body.

That's what happens when you draw or Holster your Weapon with your finger on the Trigger, or otherwise mishandle a Loaded Firearm.

Like the 16 YO "playing" with a Gun who Shot his 14 YO Cousin in Burien, and then Mama telling the Media she needs to let people know "Guns are dangerous"

Yeah Mom, where were you when your 16 YO son was "playing" with a Gun and shot his Cousin killing him? Tell us where the Lad got the Pistol, and how?

https://q13fox.com/2018/08/15/family-sa ... is-cousin/

The Corrections Officer Fucked up, the Burien kid Fucked up, but one paid with his Life because of it. That's not an "accident" in my opinion, that's an ND and stupidity.

Sir, if this post were a rifle target, you would have pinwheeled it with multiple rounds.

And you are spot on, as brutal as it sounds--the vast, VAST majority of ALL firearms accidents are due to STUPIDITY. We, as shooters, try to make it evident and simple by posting rules. However, there are still instances where one or more of these rules are broken and injury or worse is the result.

A gun is a remote control drill. It is designed to put holes in things. And once the hammer starts forward, or the striker is released, there will be loud noises, heat, and flash. Something will be visited by a piece of metal moving at VERY high speeds. If we bear that in mind, all will be good.

But we DON'T bear it in mind.

We become comfortable. Too relaxed. Too complacent. We become CARELESS. After all, gun accidents happen ONLY to the other guy...right?

A lot of us on this board have met out at ESC. Some of us are RSOs.

Tell me how many times you have seen someone handle a gun while the range is cold.

How many times have you heard, "Oops, I'm sorry!" Or even worse, "It's OK, it's not loaded".

Again...spot on with this post. I just wish that more people would listen.

I will reiterate, as I did earlier, that my statement about it being an accident was in reference to the news channel demanding to know why it happened, as if was intentional.

If the choice is between intentional, or accidental, I still say accidental.

Context is everything....

Interesting discussion on active retention holsters. I’m new to them and looking at them myself. Not sure which manufacture offers the options I’m looking for. I prefer OWB conceal with paddle. I was looking at the Safariland GLS paddle holsters but they don’t offer forward/aft cant adjustment. Blackhawk (Serpa) is about the only holster that does offers this.

Any other manufactures offer OWB conceal/paddle style active retention holsters with adjustable aft cant? Note I mentioned aft cant adjustment.

I will not open carry without retention. Personally, I think it's irresponsible for people to open carry with no retention and no retention training.

Safariland offers a type of universal holster that is suitable for OC, with level 2 retention. I don't remember the model number offhand...but I do have one. (Does that make sense?)

I'd need to pull the paddle or loop off one to check, but I'm fairly sure that the Safariland ALS (model 6377 or 6378... identical except one has a belt loop while the other has a paddle... they can be swapped easily) does that.

The 6378 ALS comes with paddle and belt loop. The 6377 ALS is belt loop only. Their web site says only the belt loop has Cant adjustment and it doesn’t say what that is. The paddle version doesn’t appear to have any Cant adjustment. It appears none of their paddle versions offer Cant adjustment. Bummer, I sort of wanted to try one. I guess I should take this over to the Clothing and Gear forum. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm just glad the guy didn't shoot himself in the deek. We'd be on page 12.

I think at this point we're off in the weeds

Suggestions about holsters should move to another thread. We've been off topic for at least two pages now.

It would be great to leave this thread open for further info ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR CASE
