Went to the Tulsa Gun Show. Went thru a lot of back roads (not interstate, but US routes), so it took me thru some small towns. Went thru one and surprisingly everyone is masked up, when I went to a donot shop. Finally got to the gun show, there was lots of guns, ammo available, some at outrageous prices. Had a guy selling a box of steel cased .223 Wolf for $22/20. But most prices were lower. Had lots of decently priced free float ARs given the situation ($650 and up). Some vendors seem to think the rising price of ammo rises other prices, e.g. magazines, accessories. Some new AR mags were $20 ea., some were reasonable at $10 ea. Common price of a box of 9mm ball was $40/50. But if you wanted ammo you could get it. Show was busy. For the first time since we started masking up, I saw the vast majority in a location (the Expo) were not masked up.

Also remember there is no I-594 or I-1639 in place, although I am not a resident yet, so I could not buy a firearm (no big). I think ammo was big in people's minds.

The solution to high prices is high prices.

Reason you go is to support the assembly of like minded individuals; it's nice to talk to somebody with a close world view as your own. I had lots of blue state stories to tell people. Admittance was $13 ($14 - $1 for veteran).

Gas is usually $1.79/gal but further out it's $1.69/gal, but probably lower at places.

Went to the OKC gun show on Sat. Has terrible parking. Smaller than Tulsa gun show. OKCPD there in a booth. Lots of signs saying to mask up. I was in and 90% are masked up. They had frequent announcements to say "you must mask up now it's mandated" and always you'd see ppl mask up. But OKCPD never sat up or did anything. Some people were bothered I wasn't masked, always older. I had ppl ask me what pistol I had (I didnt), and I would always say, can't hear you with that mask! Ppl don't like masks but few do anything. Sheep.

I did get thrown out of one place, a gas station. Funny, I guess they don't want customers.

All businesses have the MUST WEAR A FACE MASK SIGN but most do not enforce it. In fact, I see many employees with it off or at the very least not over their nose.

Housing is definitely cheaper in Oklahoma, although most of the south half of Oklahoma City is in the bad half. But there are some very interesting areas nearby. Easy to own land where you can shoot and work nearby.

There are a lot more people of like mind here as opposed to Seattle and you don't seem to encounter the passive aggressive attitude. And people seem to be well versed on the ills of Seattle-Portland and are sympathetic to people fleeing the Socialist paradise.

So I don't get the Washington State family leave tax (a la 20th Century Motor Car Company) anymore but I get the approx. 4% OK Income tax, but there is a form to write that off for the first five years on your later income taxes. I don't know the details on this.

You could tell the plane I was on was going to Seattle, the women dressed like men and had short haircuts and there were soyboys dressed in black with Che Guevara shirts. In OK it seems things are a lot more normal.

Well IS, I'd rather have a 3 ac, 3 BR, 3 BA, house, barn ($175K), and $1.60 gas, and no 10 day wait for my guns. :wink05:

After being back in Washington state for a while, I appreciate being in the company of fellow Wagunners.

So imagine a place, even in a "liberal" city like Oklahoma City, who still voted red, that is running around with Wagunners, so to speak, and liberals are a true minority.

I've only been to Texas for short time periods, and there is much to like, but Oklahoma to me is "North Texas".

Just funnin' with you.
Me, wouldn't live in either state, not a fan of the climate.
But by way of my fathers side, I've got Texas history back to before the 1835 Texas Revolution so I get stuff like this every day from relatives still there.

I was quite disappointed the last time I went out (OKC Gun show) that I was reluctant to venture out again. Since there are a million churches here, I thought I would start trying some. Went to the first one, a block away.

I get there and there is a table with some sanitizer and a mask. I think, yeeks, should I try again?

Someone is there and they said mask rules do not apply. Because of the difference of opinion, masks are optional but no one wore them. Granted, this is not a mega church but a small one.

I talked blue state stories, asked where to shoot.

They did a Zoom meeting (BTW webex allows this too) for people too scared to come in.

I was invited for a free lunch so we went to iHop. Had a mask sign in front but it was packed. Table to table people. Indoor dining. Yeah, indoor dining in OK for months. I'm watching my money so really haven't ate out much.

On another note, I have had a couple of interactions with OKC cops, both while I was unmasked, in the OKC airport and at the OKC Gun Show. Both times were great, they were asking if I needed anything and said zero about me being unmasked.

Sound like normal life.

We shall see, I am older and over the hill and quite a knuckle dragger myself. I find employment where I can and I am very fortunate to continue employment with my current employer in another state. When I was laid off a few years ago, I had to go to other states to continue the income flow as a contractor and it sucked. Had a great experience at a tech company (cash only, zero benefits), and in the midwest in more challenging circumstances. Met more people and it was certainly interesting. Because of my previous injuries with vaccines, I cannot take them for many reasons and would have to decline if mandated to take the COVID vaccine as a condition of employment. I would love to continue to be at the same spot as I am, and I think I am particularly suited for my current position, and the people are great. We'll see.

Thanks. I think you hit on the best part of being retired. Older white ass looking for a job? Yeah, no thanks. Hang in there!

I ran across an older Vietnamese lady who had escaped South Vietnam and she was lamenting on the condition of our country especially after the election. She said 80% of the Vietnamese she knew were solidly behind Trump and she did not want the US to become Vietnam. But I encounter quite a few reactionaries (that's a derogatory term from decades ago to describe us) like that in OK, much more than in WA (but quite the same as in Lewis County).

This echoed another guy I knew in Seattle, who actually referred me to my old employer. He was from Afghanistan, and was in the Afghan Army a bit in Jalalabad for his service. He was just going into Kabul University when the Soviets invaded and he had similar stories to what the Vietnamese lady had.

It it quite refreshing to have immigrants and current US Citizens who are quite patriotic and do not want our country to descend into the abyss. And I might add immigrants on this board to who do their part in pushing back.

DO NOT let the communists get into control.
