It is reassuring that in addition to energy, there are other industries here to include food. No endless corn farms like Iowa, but quite a bit of grain and animal producers here. However, I have heard about the shenanigans that go on in the beef processing and seed acquisition.

Any of the OK contingent going to OFASTS this year? June 26th & 27th. I've been wanting to go for a couple years and now that alimony is all in the rear view mirror might be a good time to pitch this to the wife. Just wondering if anyone has been in past years?

It's been quite a few years now since I went to the Oregon full auto shoot at Albany Rifle and Pistol Club. That was a great shoot but nowadays the drive to OK is a lot shorter

Good news Dave.
"It establishes and legalizes a class of made-in-Texas suppressors that must be manufactured and/or sold within the state from Texas-made parts. The silencer must be stamped “Made In Texas” and must remain in the state. It would then be exempt from NFA regulation. That means no forms, background checks, $200 tax stamps or year-long waits for government permission."

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/texas ... egulation/

It's a four hour drive for the shoot.
A co-worker wants to get the gold package and do the helo shoot. So we might make a weekend of it. My birthday gift to my self.

Hi Chuck I saw that too this morning in the news :thumbsup2: It's not over till the Fat Lady sings of course though this last week of the legislative session in TX is shaping up to be a great one for gun owners:
- Constitutional Carry looks very promising for final concurrence votes and heading to the governor's desk
- Movement this week on 2nd Amendment Sanctuary State legislation
- In-state NFA exemption legislation you mentioned

Texas is very gun friendly and a huge stakeholder in the national NFA market. That being said, the state is definitely not typically in the forefront of gun rights. It was very slow to join the Shall Issue movement and has also been slow to join the growing Constitutional Carry movement. It's encouraging to see the state making forward progress in these areas.

We'll see how it shakes out here at home for OFASTS this year. My wife has been really wanting a warm weather beach trip on the Gulf Coast though maybe if I present the opportunity to do a bit of casino time in OK along with OFASTS maybe it will fly. Will keep you posted.

ADVICE FOR ANYONE MOVING TO OKLAHOMA
1. Save all bacon [IMG] grease. You will be instructed later how to use it.
2. If you do run your car [IMG] into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in the cab of a four wheel drive with a 12-pack of beer [IMG] and a tow chain will be along shortly. Don't try to help them. Just stay out of their way. This is what they live for.
3. Remember: "Y'all" is singular. "All y'all" is plural. "All y'all's" is plural possessive. [IMG]
4. Get used to the phrase "It's not the heat, it's the humidity.” [IMG] And the collateral phrase "You call this hot? Wait'll August."
5. Don't tell us how you did it up there. Nobody cares.
6. If you think it's too hot, don't worry. It'll cool down - in November.
7. A Mercedes-Benz is not a status symbol, a Chevy, Dodge, or Ford pickup is.
8. If someone says they're "fixin" to do something, that doesn't mean anything's broken. [IMG]
9. The value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but the availability of shade.
10. If you are driving a slower moving vehicle on a two lane road, pull onto the shoulder. That is called "courtesy".
11. BBQ is a food group. It does NOT mean grilling burgers and hot dogs outdoors.
12. Yes, weddings, funerals, and divorces must take into account the schedule for Football games. [IMG]
13. DO NOT honk your horn at us to be obnoxious, we will sit there until we die.
14. We pull over and stop for emergency vehicles to pass.
15. We respect the flag and the national anthem. [IMG]
16. "Bless your Heart" is a nice way of saying you're an idiot.
17. We throw our hands up at random strangers passing by. It’s normal.
18. There will always be a tractor on the two lane road when you are running late, so allow time for that.
19. Sweet tea is a food group.
20 Yonder IS a word
21. If you don't like the weather in OKLAHOMA ….just wait 15 minutes, it will change

He recently moved back to Kansas...he’s probably surmising that his location in Kansas is closer to the actual event, than your location in Oklahoma.

I was able to go into Costco a week ago with no mask, no face shield.

No one asked if I was "vaccinated" or not.

But some still wore masks.

Sadly I checked with the boss here who mentioned we have some prior family commitments that weekend. So no go for me.
I do think that Chuck is going and also Rockhopper might be going.

Looks like a great event and bummed to miss it this year. Hoping to make it this next year and toss in a bit of casino time as well as there is not a single casino in the entire state of Texas
