I have a friend who wants his 69 Chevelle restored. It needs mechanical and some body/interior. I’m guessing this is a case of take these parts, put it all back together, make it run reliably and look decent. Not concourse, just a good looking driver. Can anybody recommend a good restoration shop?

Nice of you to say so, Brad! But Ray’s garage only accepts work from his wife and kids.

Here is the statement of work. Install the following (he has the parts already)

1 front wiring harness
2 under dash harness
3 distributer wires and plugs
4 belts and hoses
5 inner fenders
6 Dash pad
7 fluids
8 misc trim pieces
9 check steering box for leaks
10 carburetor ( edlebrock)
11 fuel pump?
12 door window seals (soft seal)
13 install seats
14 starter?

His budget is $6k for these installs

And an update. Guy wants to get these parts installed and then wants to sell the car. Can anybody throw out a name or two of shops that can do these installs?

Is it an SS Chevelle? Big block? 4-speed?

He really doesn't need a resto shop, just a good mechanic for that stuff.

I know my opinion may not be wanted.

It might just be easier to sell it as it is now.

That's a decent amount of work. He could drop it off at a shop and not see the car again for a year. Then will he get that much more than the $6,000 he just spent?

The big question there is: is it drivable? If it's not drivable it's probably money well spent.
