shit's getting crazy at the ports of Seattle and Tacoma. Quote: TERMINAL 30 HAS REACHED MAXIMUM CAPACITY IN OUR EMPTY YARD Every single active spot in our Empty Yard is physically full with the particular Line’s Size / Type that it currently holds. We do not have any more physical space that can be used to accommodate Empties without affecting or halting Vessel operations. Terminal 30 has no other choice but to limit acceptance into Yard Empty spaces, as they open and become available, one at a time. This means that carriers and drivers with empties to drop will have to wait for another driver to pick up an empty of the size and type they have before they can drop their empty off. This also means even longer wait times and some drivers could potentially could wait all day and still be turned at the end of the day.
all ports are out of chassis (trailers on which the conex box rides) if you don't have your own you may be sitting out there for a long time until someone else drops one off and people are getting smarter on re-using what they have in their possession. our transloading warehouse is out of pallets, i have 30 loads sitting in their yard, can't get product onto the over the road trucks because of it. ports are working slow as fuck, coupled with equipment shortages, causing us to miss deadlines on when containers have to be pulled, costing customers thousands of dollars in demurrage fees. shortages of products? check rise in costs to the consumer? you fucking bet

There is no legitimate reason why the ports should be operating at reduced capacity. There is no legitimate reason for customers to be charged demurrage when the containers are stuck for reasons entirely beyond their control. And I don't even see a legitimate reason why there would be insufficient chassis, because it's not like the number of containers passing through the ports have dramatically increased in proportion to the amount of equipment that existed prior. The entire thing is a manufactured crisis, with the shipping lines and the ports making record profits at everyone else's expense.

well, the chassis shortage, at least for us is like this: ~30 loads out that warehouse can't unload due to labor and pallet shortage. some have been dropped on 7/22 ~10 loads sitting out because warehouses are understaffed and can't receive until next week. these were pulled 7/13 - 7/15 various empties sitting around because ports are at capacity and not receiving them
this is just us, a small outfit that runs 10 trucks, so we're tying up up to 5 chassis daily, per truck. and you can imagine how big of a problem it is for companies that run 50+ trucks

"sic" - a Latin adverb meaning "thus", and often used to point out errors in quotes - is perhaps the first example of grammar Naziism.

Spammers... either I'm a geezer in need of every geriatric potion and device... or I'm deemed to be in search of hot mommas and/or a foreign bride.
I believe the former would exclude me from chasing the latter, and the latter would soon bring about the need for the former.

8 years of post history seems to indicate the latter...
