We decided to get a turkey deep fryer for this coming Thanksgiving. Have never cooked a deep fried turkey before and pretty stoked about it. Have always heard they can turn out pretty awesome. Since I've never even tried deep fried turkey this is new ground for us.

After failing to find the accessories I was looking for at 2 different "tacticool" stores, I stopped into Pintos for a case of bulk ammo.

Imagine my surprise when there at the front of the optics case was the exact model I'd been looking for. ($60 cheaper than I was quoted to order elsewhere)

I was so pleased, I moseyed around for a minute and found myself pawing through the holster bargain bins. OMG...no way. Is that a light-bearing cqc duty holster for $8??? (NOT serpa)

Quick...snatch it outta there and beg at the counter for a PPQ to see how it fits. If I'd had my trl-3 with me, I would have snapped it on. Hard to tell without the light...but it seemed like a good fit. Def worth the $8 just to take a chance.

I walked outta there with a case of blazer brass as well...doin the happy dance all the way back to the truck. Oh happy day!!

Sold the trusty 2006 Honda Ody family van to an Afghan immigrant. Came off my price $200 for the guy. Well worth it for the story. We both walked away happy and we definitely got our moneys worth out of the van since new.

RockHopper, how much was the HS507C at Pintos?

I’ve been ordering them online ... haven’t really looked locally.

$229. Same as every online price I've seen.

Just make sure the bird is completely dethawed and dried off.

Thanks Eagle Chaplain for the advice. I've read that it can be highly dangerous to fry a turkey with any ice or water. I'd rather like to avoid having our new turkey fryer function as an indirect fire artillery piece

I'd watch all the videos on utube for the how to's. Mostly how to be safe.
Not trying to scare you but you gotta know what it's capable of doing.

I’ve done it several times.

Some key rules
1. Place the fryer outside well away from the house, and on a non-combustible surface
2. Do not overfill with oil. Most fires happen when the oil boils over the top and is ignited by the burner. The turkey will displace quote a lot of oil, so keep the level 6 inches below the rim. You can add more later to fully submerge the turkey
3. Make sure the pot is centered on, and well supported by the burner.
4. Turkey must be fully defrosted and dry. It can take a couple of days to defrost a turkey
5. Put on leather gloves, and then use a hook to lower the turkey SLOWLY into the oil. The oil will bubble vigorously, so go slow enough to prevent boil over.
6. Don’t be stinking drunk, if at all possible

This sounds very exciting. I’ve never done it, but I’m guessing that safety glasses aren’t a bad addition to the turkey frying kit.

I lost a door job in the french quarter because I refused to stand guard next to one of those shiny sons-of-bitches. Except this was a crawfish boil put on by the bar.

It must have had 4x 6' lines connected together. Two of those junctions would sporadically flame up from leaks. No F'n way bro. Some of those Cajuns are just plain dumb.

Thanks all for the advice. I'll make sure to do some research on YouTube also before the big day. Plus we'll probably do a practice run to fry a couple chickens first.

Instead of regular eye protection I am thinking a welding helmet
