Since moving to KC a few months back I have had a chance to experience the local cuisine and some customs. You can throw a rock around here and hit at least five different BBQ joints. Lot's of Italian food, and loads of Mexican. Asian food has a lot to be be desired out here. But there is one thing I've seen that I can't seam to wrap my head around. Apparently you eat your bowls of chili with a cinnamon roll. I'm talking the one with the glaze and everything. They dip the damn thing in the chili. Is this a thing? My wife and I tried it and she likes it but I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I have never heard of this before moving out here so I don't know if this is just some weird KC custom or what.

The sweetness mellows out the heat of the chili peppers
Corn bread with honey is better imho
And you’re in the inbred crossroads of the continent?
That’s all I can figure
If I spice up my chili to much, I add creamy peanut butter
People think I’m weird until they try it
Different strokes for different folks

I always liked using a sweet(vanilla) granola mixed into my chili or soup….

People put gerbils in their asses so why not cinnamon rolls in chili?

I'd never do either but live and let live - be kind to gerbils.

When I was in elementary school, and they made the lunches in house, that was every Friday lunch. We looked forward to it. I think it was in the mid to late 60’s
