Wow . . . what county was that?

The online portion of my Columbia County renewal took less than a week.

My renewal from Columbia County, during the Covid bullshit, was 100% online and took 16 days!!

Just realized my Oregon permit expired in April... Oops..

interesting, somehow I got an email from them expires in Jan.

Mine did too. I renewed online no problem a few weeks ago. Still need to go south to do the photo and fingerprints.

yep I see they make an appointment for you once they clear it.

The following documentation MUST be uploaded to the application website before your renewal application will be considered complete:

A copy of your expired or expiring CHL
A copy of your valid driver’s license. Make sure the DMV has your current address.
If a Washington resident, a copy of your current Washington CWP

Once we have verified that your application is complete, you will receive an email indicating that you may come to the Sheriff’s Office for verification of identification and the taking of a new photograph for your CHL. Your personal appearance is necessary to comply with Oregon Revised Statute 166.295 which governs CHL renewals. PLEASE DO NOT come in before you receive the email indicating that your application is complete. Instructions on when to come in will be provided in the email.

NOTE: If you apply for renewal more than 45 days prior to your expiration, you will likely lose time on your current permit. If you do not wish to lose time, please apply 45 days or less before your current expiration date.

My application back in September was accepted and I have an open invite to go to St. Helens, OR from 2:4pm to do my Photo an Prints. I'll get down there before the end of the year.

I received my new Oregon CHL in the mail today.

The insanity criteria aside, I have to say, the Oregon experience (at least in Columbia County) is sure a lot nicer than the Washington experience.

- No need for a silly appointment.
- Awesome email communication . . . reminder that you need to renew, notifications when your paperwork has been approved, etc.
- When I renewed, they gave me a temporary CHL to use until the final laminated CHL arrives.
- The final CHL is a proper card, similar to a driver's license, not a piece of paper or a laminated piece of paper that doesn't fit in a wallet.

Kudos to Columbia County. :thumbsup2:

3 weeks to come in mail... :thumbsup2:

while I was there did ask the gal if any chance of coming back to puyallup. well only if they can get more staffing they would.

sucks to make a 2.5 hr drive for a 5 sec pic. but process was really fast and easy when doing it online.

I was born and raised in Linn County, and that's where most of my family still live. I was able to transfer my Oregon CHL from Columbia to Linn County, and since I visit several times a year, renewing when it expires is a piece of cake. (Sorry, Steve. Didn't mean to strike a nerve with that.)
