It’s like many things. It’s a numbers game.
The more you buy the cheaper each item it is in the end. (Hopefully)

But that’s a lot to shell out to save a few bucks.
Not just in funds but more importantly time and a pain to disperse.

Yeah but I'm retired...what else do I have to do? :ROFLMAO:

Best response ever!

oldkim is right, if it's for the money, it's not worth it. If it's for the experience, with the side benefit of helping out others in the community, then it may very well be worth it.

With the relative scarcity of nice surplus .50-cal cans in this area, I don't doubt that they'd be an easy sell. The Chinese ones they sell at the local box stores are crap; I'd gladly pay more for the real deal, even if they are used.

I knew you were going to say this before I read your response lol.

Any chance for a pallet of 5.56s? I could use a few smaller cans too.

There are some .30 cal cans too...but they aren't as popular by far.

Personally, I prefer them (the 30 cal cans)...

As far as ammo storage goes, I find they're easier to manage, and I've found with 50 cal cans I always end up with a full can and then another 50 cal can that has like 10 boxes in it...half empty.. whereas that same amount of ammo would fit in 3-30 cal cans near perfectly.

However, 50 cal cans are great if you store your ammo in mags....

I’d be in for at least 10 if I sell my 30’s.

I'd be in for some if the price is right and I can get them near Puyallup.

Would be great if one of these lots finally came back to WA or even CA. Biggest problem is once you take in freight cost per can can become too high. Decent 50 cals are going for around $15 now. Though most of us price them around $10 to 12.
Might be worth taking a look at some 40mm or 20mm cans as well. Those work great for a foundation to build on. Even better than 50's for those rifle ammo boxes. They take lots of space but only still hold 20 rounds.

If you get some let me know as I might want a few and I know several others up here not on Waguns that would probably take a bunch.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet on any of the auctions.

I've been watching them to see what it's gonna take to buy enough to get the unit cost down after freight.

The last auction was for 576 cans, it sold for $2,605 plus a 15% buyers premium. That makes purchase $5.20 per can before freight. Gotta figure around $3 a can for freight costs (3,000 mile round trip). If I can buy a couple lots and get the freight down to $1.50-$2 that's still $7-$8 a can to get them here.

I think $10 a can is gonna be the bottom end of the price range if I do this.

But I'm not deterred...Still watching auctions.

They'll come out of YTC and Fairchild once in a while and they'll come in batches....

Only seen a handful from JBLM.

There's a bunch coming out of Colorado right now.

The last 2 lots I watched were 576 and 600+ from Colorado Springs. Nothing of any size there right now. I'd prefer to buy a couple of big lots and smaller ones of 40mm and 120mm. I can haul 13 pallets pretty easily, 14 if I break one down.

If I'm making the trip...might as well be up to capacity.
