Dettelbach, who doesn't even own guns, confirmed as AFT director.

"Even though Dettelbach doesn’t have any official record on gun control, he has spoken about several of his beliefs. Dettelbach believes in banning most semi-automatic rifles, which he calls “assault weapons.” He would like to see the Clinton-era assault weapons ban return with an expanded definition of an assault weapon."

He also wants a gun registry and no private sales.

"Gun Owners of America (GOA) verified this (Ammoland's) claim and determined that just under 700 million records have been digitized, with the ATF hard at work to get one billion records it holds scanned.

The ATF calls this a searchable database and claims the names field is not searchable. Although this claim is technically true, the search function in the field is just disabled. AmmoLand News determined that this function could be turned on in under 10 seconds with three clicks of a mouse. Many gun rights advocates consider this a firearms registry."

With Deetermyer at the helm, will they, in the face of US Code, turn the function on?

Will she be prosecuted as she should? I see a major privacy violation her. And had to break all kinds of regulations using a personal cell phone to record information.
But of course with the criminal running the so-called Dept of Justice. nothing will happen yet again.

Didn't someone point out the opening of the Declaration of Independence from 1776 previously? This kind of behavior makes you think that the breakdown many of us have been predicting is not far behind.

AFT prepares to destroy guns (evidence) related to their Fast 'n Furious debacle (crimes).
CCKRB and Rep Jim Jordan sat "not so fast"

https://gunsandgadgetsdaily.com/not-so- ... PJ3CUKEPV4

"Published reports say the ATF “is set to destroy” Fast & Furious guns, but Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) blasts the idea, asserting “Although the ATF apparently intends to forget its dangerous misconduct in Operation Fast and Furious, the scandal is still a matter of public concern. Given the potential for ongoing criminal and possible civil actions, it is not in the interest of justice for the ATF to destroy potential evidence associated with Operation Fast and Furious.”

The ATF has been copying 4473 pages and bound books for years. In photographs, now scanners, etc. Been going on since the technology allowed it. Nothing new, they take them all back to their field office, inspect them, then destroy the files under a specific required process. It cuts down on time spent out at the shops, lowering agency associated travel costs, overtime, etc.
They aren't keeping it at the Federal level; be more wary of what the State does.

AFT google listings get trolled. ATF field offices subsequently labeled as "dog removal service" ... "pet cemetary" or "gay bar"

Since the Pistol brace thread was spiraling into discussion about, and denials of, ATF's collection of information into a general database.... really extending the OBRS database of out-of-business ffls' records /4473's into a more general database without expiry, I thought to pick this up again here.

While I'm sure this was posted further back in this thread a repeat posting to refresh the memory that the ATF is expanding its database and retaining the data in perpetuity. Some say "records that old are meaningless" to which a good response might be then why would the feds seek to retain them. Apparently they see some value in your personal information...

"The ATF in fiscal year 2021 processed 54.7 million out-of-business records, according to an internal ATF document obtained by the Gun Owners of America, a firearms advocacy group, and provided exclusively to the Free Beacon. When a licensed gun store goes out of business, its private records detailing gun transactions become ATF property and are stored at a federal site in West Virginia. This practice allows the federal government to stockpile scores of gun records and has drawn outrage from gun advocacy groups that say the government is using this information to create a national database of gun owners—which has long been prohibited under U.S. law."

Since some of us seem to have forgotten, never heard about or merely refuse to acknowledge the collection of this 4473 data, in violation of U.S. Code 18.922 (IMO) . Perusing this thread should be sufficient but...

"The procurement of these records by the ATF comes as the Biden administration moves to alter current laws to ensure that gun records are stored in perpetuity. Currently, gun shops can destroy their records after 20 years, thereby preventing the ATF from accessing the information in the future."

https://freebeacon.com/biden-administra ... -firearms/

""Instead of maintaining the right of [licensed firearm dealers] to destroy Firearm Transaction Records after 20 years, buried within Biden's proposed regulations is a provision that would mean every single Firearm Transaction Record going forward would eventually be sent to ATF's registry in West Virginia."

As pertains to the pistol brace "rule":

"The record-keeping issue has received new scrutiny as the Biden administration readies to implement several new restrictions on firearms and owners, including a proposed ban on anywhere from 10 to 40 million pistol braces, which are used as stabilizers on popular weapons such as AR-15s. Under these guidelines, gun owners would be ordered to register or destroy these pistol braces."

Add in the push to require insurance in order to apply for permission to take a test and then obtain a (rostered?) pistol in order to exercise a right? Sounds like they're thinkin' about, fixin' on, getting ready to prepare for confiscation?

Is THIS sufficient cause for alarm?

Several threads where this could be posted. Congress 'invites' Dettelbach to testify on AFT rulemaking

https://www.ammoland.com/2023/03/congre ... L_CAMPAIGN)

"In a letter sent to Mr. Dettlebach, the Congressmen accused the ATF of a lack of transparency. The letter highlights the ATF’s attempt to circumvent Congress through the rulemaking process."

Dettelbach gets grilled, and hopefully feels a sense of shame - if a bureaucrat is capable - over AFT's errors vs. the new "Zero Tolerance" policy which has shuttered many ffl's

Embarrassing tap dance by another worthless plitical bureaucrat. What's the chance of Gaetz & Co. really pushing this all the way, and not just more theater?
