By a quirk of geography, on a tip in Microsoft owned Redmond 98052, deep wedge into Bellevue, pretty much far away from Redmond residential areas it is located in a middle of East Bellevue residential and shopping area at Overlake. Redmond mayor accepts wokeness congratulations. Bellevue residents and businesses are in shock as nobody asked them about that and nobody they can do about Redmond's decision I'm pretty sure much of Redmond residents are happy about :) $28 mln for housing 144 "chronically homeless". $200K per homeless. In front of new Bellevue middle school, Overlake shopping, family parks, $1+mln homes. Communist revenge to capitalists! :) Or is it beginning of Bel-Red border conflict? :) Way to go Redmond! Not in my backyard?! Not in Redmond's, for sure... :)

A lady posted a story on Nextdoor over the weekend saying that a motel had been purchased in Renton, not Redmond, right on the border with Newcastle.
The ensuing onslaught on Nexdoor was unrelenting for 2 days, with all the usual suspects chiming in, until Monday morning when the OP had to do an Oops, and retract the post.

It is surprising how many places these flea bags have been purchased, and I have yet to see any City happy about it. I wonder how the County pulls it off? To date, only 2 of the ordinary proposed dozen or so have been bought in Seattle, and I don't know if they have been opened to the new guests yet.

Pretty much. Give it a week or two and what will the place look like? No requirements. Your relatives wouldn't WANT to stay there. Why is that?

A truly starving family? Absolutely, I will feed you. We all can say we would do this. But actually it turns out this is rare. In NW Washington there is definitely more FREE food than there are needy people. So that part is covered.

Housing, agree is tough. BUT if the tax payers are giving free accommodations - no drugs, no drinking, no parties or you get your ass out NOW. Limited term, say 3 months. Sooner if you cause ANY damage.

You may say "....but these people are mentally ill." OK, then bring back the institutions.

The major beef is that Seattle has and continues to roll out the red carpet for "the homeless". Free bus passes, free cell phones, no enforcement or prosecution of crime, sumer of love baby. The majority of this population has migrated her from out of the immediate areas, many from out of state due to the favorable conditions and coddling by leftist politicians.

So when forced to finally at least pay lip service to pretending to deal with the problem, the first thing they do is pawn the problem of on cities outside Seattle, yeah I can understand their shock at the unreasonable resistance to their noble efforts! Give them the Obama Peace Prize.
