His disappearance is holding up trials and the liberation of many who are languishing in inhumane condition at the DC jail. I suspect some kind of foul play. "I was not 'missing' or anything of the sort," John Pierce wrote in a letter filed in his clients' cases, which was in response to a government notice to make judges aware that Pierce failed to appear at some prior hearings and couldn't be reached. Pierce first became famous as the lawyer for Kyle Rittenhouse, after the teen was charged with fatally shooting two people and wounding a third during protests in Kenosha in August 2020. Rittenhouse fired Pierce in February. "I greatly appreciate the government's expressions of compassion and hope for recovery," Pierce wrote Wednesday, referring to language in the government's Aug. 30 notice to judges overseeing. An NPR reporter tweeted that Pierce said he had not been vaccinated against COVID-19, and doesn't expect to be, and wouldn't be "elaborating further on my personal medical issues." |
