Gun owners know all too well how the media lies about guns....
I found this article about 12 fake new stories....interesting read and a great reminder of how you should NEVER believe one word from a "journalist". IMO the entire profession has lost any and all credibility. With all of the politically-charged talk about banning “fake news” sites, it seems appropriate to review some of the worst fake news stories pushed by mainstream media outlets. While I agree, I also think it is like saying all COP's are bad. I worked as a part time photojournalist and told the truth and did not fabricate anything. If I didn't personally know the about subject I reported on I studied/learned about the subject before I started.

To me, it's the practice of interviewing either a reporter or a hired or contracted person working for the news outlet - and representing this person as an expert, and an unbiased expert at that. It's almost comical, but most all people take such things as fact and truth. The powerful media know this is so easy and influential and don't hesitate to use it - as more than just a reference - but the ONLY WAY A SUBJECT CAN AND COULD BE. I have heard reporters interviewing other reporters and say the craziest bullshit from COVID vaccinated can't infect others, to very powerful guns like a 10/22...........you name it, if you even have a modicum of knowledge on the subject, or God forbid witnessed an event.........you start growing your own opinions (healthy) and I can state - at LEAST 75% of the news is just complete bullshit
