Kinda mad at my bro about this still, but... Well, I'm the protective type, and this is my favorite one of the pack.
Axel is a 90+lb retriever mix of some sort. He loves the water, and the near daily trip over to the lake in late afternoon for the pack hydrotherapy session. Usually it's just my SIL in a car, but yesterday my bro drove his lifted truck, and had the 2 big boys in the bed.
Axel is still new to riding around in a truck bed, and he got careless on a gravel road at 35mph. (I'd argue that he wasn't the only one being careless, but I digress)
Apparently he landed ass over tea kettle, and rolled/flipped/flopped several times before gravity and inertia finally finished having their way with him. Whereupon...he picked himself up and ran away from the fight he'd just lost.
He's continuing to move ok, with no loss of appetite, so we're assuming he'll be alright. The vets gonna stop by today to give him the once over. I hope somebody learned a lesson from this.

Dogs are like kids that never grow up. They are the most loyal friends who never betray. I wish your pup fastest recovery possible!

Hopefully just scrapes, glad no broken bones!
I hate to see unsecured dogs in pickups. In Maui I saw one of the most horrific things, the scene still vivid after 15 years. Driving down a road, coming the other direction is a blue pickup, clearly a local. As they approach we see something trailing behind....it was a tiny puppy, had to only be a couple months old, dragging and flopping behind the truck on a leash attached to the rear of the truck bed. It must have popped out going over a bump. It had clearly been dragging for a mile or so. Still makes me sick to this day.
