An El Camino or Ranchero will do the same thing if used the same way. Modern unibody construction is much stronger than even unibody construction was in the 90s. The Maverick is a great little 'truck' for most people's use. Dodge discontinued their eco-diesel, which was netting 30+MPG on a full size pickup.
A compact pickup with a small 2.5L diesel would give you a ton of torque, and amazing MPG. Two years after the original post.....So what happened with you getting the Maverick "Truck?" Didn't you have your name on a list for one?
