It’s like making popcorn. Garage fire + tesla + ammo = a bad day.
Tesla(s) were outside, charging. Initial investigation leads to an electrical problem (probably related to the charging). We are going to see this more as people DIY outlet installs with undersized wire or use cheap 14-50 receptacles and then plug/unplug daily.
Holy shit, that does not inspire confidence or the urge to buy one. An installer screwing up an outlet or wiring could also cause that.

You don't unplug your dryer and replug it in every day, a lot more can go wrong even if there are no mistakes from a licensed installer. Connecting and disconnecting a physical high power connection is due to have issues over time due to wear/tear and changing states.

I don't know many EV folks that plug/unplug their evse from the wall daily either. L2 chargers are a more install and leave type of setup, often bulky not conducive to keeping in vehicle.
Much easier to find a public charger when not at home than trying to find a free/open outlet, specially 240v...

Yup, and that's not best practice. Plug the mobile connector into the wall and leave it there, or buy and install an actual L2 charger. Before I bought my HPWC, I just left my mobile connector plugged into my 14-50 and then connected to the car as need be. I'd only remove the MC from the 14-50 if I was going on a trip or something.
Cheap (Home depot) 14-50's are shit... If you buy a quality socket (Hubbel or Cooper), those are commercial grade and can take the in/out.

This is the alternative risk you deal with every time at a gas station.
I have never seen a static fire at a gas station or ever heard of one. Also, it's easy to get rid of any risk by tapping the metal gas pump frame and discharging any static build-up you have.

See. If a little electricity is bad, a whole lot of electricity is way worse.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.
The inflation reduction act makes taxpayers give $7500 to people who buy EVs, because, you know, EVs can't compete on a level market playing field.
