The RESTRICT act, Obama's internet driver's license, "Too Big to Fail" banks, world government, Jamie Dimon, organized crime and an intricate web of socialist global tyrants. Hollywood couldn't write a screenplay to rival the events and conspiracies of today.

Here goes a "cradle of democracy", a preview for things to come... "New Democracy" indeed...

Greek parliament approves proposal to ban far-right party from elections

Greece’s parliament voted Tuesday to prevent the extreme right Greeks-National Party from running in general elections on May 21, local media reported.

Quote:
The ruling central-right New Democracy and center-left opposition PASOK parties voted yes....
...opposing the proposal, the Greek Communist Party (KKE) argued that the new bill risks opening a window for the exclusion of other political parties from elections in the future.

Weird times, indeed...

US on red alert for earthquake after 600-mile long crack discovered at bottom of Pacific
Scientists fear a new hole which has opened along the huge fault line could spark a devastating magnitude-nine earthquake.

Quote:
Experts fear a hole in a 600-mile-long mega-crack at the bottom of the Pacific ocean could trigger a catastrophic earthquake that would decimate cities along the northwestern US coast.

The hole is located on the boundary of the dipping fault, known as the Cascadia Subduction Zone, just 50 miles off the shoreline of Oregon. It is currently spewing hot liquid, researchers have discovered.

Terrifyingly, the hole could unleash an earthquake with a magnitude of nine - the highest point on the Richter scale - due to its chemically distinct leakage known as "fault lubricant".

This could hit major metropolitan areas including Seattle, Portland and Oregon, as well as parts of Northern California and Vancouver Island in Canada.

I have a copy of the .mil assessment on what would happen if a magnitude 9 impacted the region.

It's not pretty. More than half of Seattle gone, as in, rubble.... military vessels used as ferries to evacuate survivors out of Seattle to the western areas like Bremerton, Sequim, etc. Snoqualmie pass closed, and catastrophic damage to something like 80% of the bridges in the Seattle-Tacoma area.. as in, completely unusable/unsafe.

I partook in an exercise in 2012(?) where part of our scenario was avoiding bridges and overpasses... Most of those in the exercise realized really quick that they were pretty much boxed in, and it was either impossible or required massive detours to avoid. This was driven home 10x further when people were told to map out their road home from their work, without using bridges. Quite a few people that worked just a couple miles away from home had no way back... or something insane like a 50 mile detour for a 10 mile drive.

BTW, best estimate was a decade before things got back to normal, with a MINIMIUM of 24 months before impacted regions would be considered habitable in the normal sense.

... and this was all before the shortages and BS caused by the pandemic.

The FEMA docs basically said 'You're fucked, you're on your own, good luck'..

I remember one of the weirdest take-aways....

'We won't have anywhere to put all the bodies'.....

They legit were lacking a plan on how to deal with tens of thousands of fatalities over the initial event and subsequent related fatalities over the next couple of months in terms of lack of food, water, medical care, medication, etc.

...and of course I can't find the FOUO/CUI copy of the docs I had... but they're out there...and they're thousands of pages...

In the meantime, here are the public docs..

Great summary, and yeah, it's not until you think about how many bridges there are you realize that you are on your own. Us country folk have a bit better but the town and city will be soon fleeing looking for stuff.
Problem is now, preps are more expensive but still needed.

I believe these geological features (giant cracks) are referred to as a "Kardashian"

Seriously, open crack oozing lava is releasing stress slowly that would otherwise build up until failing catastrophically. It's a good thing.

But but but but...... while its oozing its emitting greenhouse gasses!!!!!!!!! Best if we stop it now before its too late.... We'd be better off dealing with a large quake rather than 'hurting' the climate anymore..... Maybe Jay can find a way to put a carbon tax on it....

This part I think is the issue here:

More. for example, is here: https://vnexplorer.net/experts-on-red-a ... 68626.html

Basically the fault is leaking the "fault lubricant" that may cause the loss of ability for the smooth plates motion and will cause a catastrophic shift due to quickly rising pressures due to the loss of the "fault lubricants".

Thank you for this excellent summary! Perhaps this deserves its own thread in WA Prepper section.

TBH being a city suburban dweller never gave much thought to prepper issues. But thinking about the scenario does raise hairs on my back... And raises many questions ...

Not to be a turd in the punch bowl.... but not seeing anything reported on any other sites including USGS....
How do the brits know whats happening off the coast of Oregon? Or is it a distraction for the sheep? ""Look over there....""

It's a sciency thing :) Comes from UW. Search for "Cascadia Subduction Zone"... For example : https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 105851.htm

As for US gov-t I have a feeling they don't give a sh*t about this... Nothing they are going to do about it anyway... But as prepper issue it's very appropriate to consider...

Quote:
Loss of fluid from the offshore megathrust interface through these strike-slip faults is important because it lowers the fluid pressure between the sediment particles and hence increases the friction between the oceanic and continental plates.

"The megathrust fault zone is like an air hockey table," Solomon said. "If the fluid pressure is high, it's like the air is turned on, meaning there's less friction and the two plates can slip. If the fluid pressure is lower, the two plates will lock -- that's when stress can build up."

Fluid released from the fault zone is like leaking lubricant, Solomon said. That's bad news for earthquake hazards: Less lubricant means stress can build to create a damaging quake.

"Leaking fluids"

If there is too much fluid under too high pressure it "oozes" out - that in no way means a significant loss of lubricity.

Plate tectonics "science" has a great many unknowns.

That statement is a direct contradiction to the conclusions from UW. Just stating the obvious....

You may be right though and in my lifetime nothing happens - and all the prepping would be for naught... :) But the warning is out there and everybody is free to ignore it. I just wish that warning was issued to Washington DC....

When you charge up grease into a zero fitting a bit too much the grease oozes out the lubed joint ... just because you see grease coming out doesn't mean the joint friction is going up.

When you don't see any signs of grease at the joint then you got trouble.
