Yet we have disabled veterans living on the street, who have to fight the VA for meager benefits.

Yeah WTF is this thing. Sounds like we have one chance to opt-out of this bullshit, by buying our own Long-Term Care Insurance. Once you opt-out, you can't ever get back in. But all you have to do is show you have LTCI. Once. Then sounds like you can cancel it.

So my plan is to buy the insurance, opt out of the tax, then cancel my insurance. Take my cash and put it in the market, make millions, and vastly beat out this bullshit.

Fuck our politicians.

It's pretty astonishing that a majority of Washington citizens vote these folks into office. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Do we? Anyone ever watch our Secy of State count votes? Do we have fair elections in WA state?

It doesn't do much good to speculate. If you think there are misdoings, find the proof. I don't believe in government employees ability to keep a secret, if there is election integrity issues, someone would leak it.

It were a fair election, there would be transparency. Go see the SoS counting votes in Olympia on Election Day.

Only scoundrels hide.

We ought to be jealous of our freedoms.

Passed in 2019 - just not effective until now. Pretty sure dems did that hoping that no one would notice until after the election - seems to have worked.

Indeed. Wow!

So. Retired 62. Not sure which direction and don't actually have time until later today to study this BS.

Ideas?

It is technically not an income tax. It is a payroll tax, so if you are not getting income from a job you are not taxed. Retirement is not subject to this tax.

I am not sure if changing state residence would work as it is a WA state payroll tax. If you get a paycheck for work in WA I believe it would be subject to the tax. If you pay into the system for 20 years and move out of the state you do not get any of the benefits unless you get the long term care in this state.

That is my understanding from the reading I have done.
