I knew enough racist people growing up a white kid in rural WA, some of them in my own family. But my time in the Army took care of any of that idiocy clinging to my world view. These days, I feel like I have more in common with the black dude, the woman, or the LGBT gun owner in the shooting lane next to me at the range than I do with white anti-gun urban progressive any day of the week. I read a stat that people of color, women, and gays are the fastest growing groups of gun owners in America. I think that’s awesome. The most oppressed or at risk of violence among us should also be the best armed.
