After many years of faithful service, my Gunvault MicroVault has failed. So, I bought a replacement. I’ keep mine bolted to a filing cabinet.
Got the new one today. Well, good! No pre-drilled holes to bolt it down through.
Before I return it, I was wondering if anyone had any success with drilling the a Gunvault? I.e, can I drill it with regular tools, or would I need a special bit? Anything to avoid?

.308 should make a decent hole.

You'll most likely need cobalt bits to get through it. Normal bits will most likely just burn and case harden the steel. If you can get through the vault with regular carbon steel or even HSS bits, then it's garbage.

If a regular drill bit won't work, a masonry bit will. I've drilled hardened steel 55-60 rockwell hardness (think harder than a file.) This guy is using a multi-media drill bit but in the US it's a masonry bit. https://youtu.be/czmPMsDcsAo

That's a nice little Bridgeport mill (that I'd like to have ) Here's a nice medium sized drill press:

I’ve used those masonry bits in a regular drill press often.

Had a buddy of mine drill it with a normal drill press. Went through without problems.
Thanks to (most) of you who replied.
