Few years back I was going downtown on a weekend. Some gal came out of the (closed) Northbound Union street express lane coming right at me. . She had to jockey her car around and go back through the tunnel she came from. It happens. But, ya. This guy was either an idiot or up to something.

Summer Taylor, 24, died from her injuries. Sad thing. Sure, she should not have been standing in the freeway. On the other hand, when I was young I did stupid shit on several occasions that almost killed me. Bet you guys have too.

Just watched what I think is footage of the hit. Methinks the driver is probably toast. People in the road appear to be under street lights. Dude driving on shoulder, people in shoulder, doesn't look like anything obstructing his view from the angle it was filmed. Only braked a fraction of a second before impact. Can't tell if he tried to swerve to avoid the two people hit, or to aim for the two people hit. Illegal blockage or not, it looked avoidable to me, at least from this angle
Maybe, MAYBE not time to see or stop for the people, but plenty of time to slow or stop for the line of cars across the highway.
