It makes me wonder how many young people have just stopped trying or done crazy stuff just because they know (have been told) the world will be ending soon.

When I was a kid in the late 70s I was told most of North America would be covered with ice sheets due to the coming ice age. Add to that most fossil fuels are running out soon and that paints pretty bleak picture. But it was not taught as a religion in schools or believed by half the adult population.

During the first Gulf war I had a coworker bug out in the woods near Tillamook for a bit. After it started he left work that day and we didn't see him for 2 weeks. We heard the story when he got back.
He was convinced the world was ending so....lost his job, didn't pay bills, etc. Dumbass for sure but some of us thought if things did go south we might join him. That was the point when I learned of prepping. _________________ ...a wise man once said "all you need is what's around you" Well, when I looked around all I saw was a pimp with a shiny pair of shoes and a '49 Mercury! |
