Does it feel different THIS time?

Thu Aug 15, 2019 2:17 pm

The topic is gun control / anti-gun ...

I freely admit it may be the coverage, but, it seems to me there IS a change occurring. I offer the following:

- The NRA appears to be in disarray
- Positive views of the NRA appear to be below 50%, emboldening RINO's who sit on the fence to distance themselves.
- Firearm users (legal ones) are more often "hiding their hobby" than in previous rounds.
- National rhetoric at the congressional level about bans, confiscation, red flag laws, magazines, and the like.
- Every democratic presidential candidate is openly pushing for far more.
- There appears to be a general mood swing in the electorate in favor of more restrictions.
- Some (many?) gun owners are "giving up the fight", or at least deprioritizing their firearm rights against other voting issues.

The "third rail" of politics no longer seems to be energized. If my perception is reality, we're going to have to fight a lot harder and a lot longer for every scrap.

Maybe I'm just tired and need a(nother) drink?

Stop believing the MSM. They want you to think this is true. Your "feeling" is just that, it's a feeling.

We'll keep the pressure up on legislators and on the executive branch, and let the libs scream at the sky annually.

It's not so much "believing the MSM" as it is anecdotal evidence. I know my own perceptions/experience are similar to what the OP described. It definitely seems like there is change in the air, and I can't help but wonder if the NRA falling apart has something to do with that. Then again, I also know for a fact that voter ignorance and apathy abounds, including in the pro-2A camp, so with or without the NRA we still have a tough hill to climb.

Anyway, I'm not giving up the fight, but it does feel like it's getting harder, not easier.

Ya, my spidy sences are tingling for sure. I can relate to the OP. 594 is when I concentrated on getting more involved. Looking back I realize I took it all for granted prior to that. It's a lot of work and I'm tired. The gun control agenda is like a heard of zombies....slow but relentless. It's not gonna stop...ever.

In 1994, the poll numbers pushed 80% in support of the ban.

I think the whats changed now is the media is more in your face. In 1994, I saw the news maybe in the evening. Now, with the internet I see news all the time. Also, for me personally is the 1994, I lived in a fairly pro-gun area as opposed to now.

I was extremely surprised when gun control didn’t pass in after the 2010 shooting. Now, I think what makes it look really bad is “orange man bad’ and then Dem candidates can get away with pretty much anything they want and the media will cheer them on.

One of the biggest changes is the simple fact... pacifist are becoming violent.

In your face and not backing down. Money is pouring in from all sources and especially big money for folks to stamp their feel good backsides.

Everyday folks are angry and they want to take it out on other law abiding citizens since we are law abiding and not going to simply shoot them. Criminals you know may actually hurt you if you get in their faces.

It’s simple math but it’s not that simple since we are where we are... otherwise we wouldn’t be here.

So we are here and we are getting smaller and smaller. We are divided. We aren’t united. Even the big groups that are there to support us have divided us.

Media suppressed anything that is good for us and certainly blows it off the planet for all the bad things.

It is different.

People look at me funny now because I have difficulty with gender pronouns. I believe the socialist are trying to make a major play for power in this country. If that happens and we aren’t all sufficiently hidden by the time dust settles I fear it’s off to re-education for all of us. They’ll try to link a fondness for weapons as a mental illness or something. Although I think if I am discovered I’d prefer to go out like Butch and Sundance, my ancestors fled the last commie take over, I ain’t running and I’ll make sure they will feel my protests vividly.

It still feels like I1639 time but the freedom & gun haters are bankrolled to the hilt, all the recent shooting are ramping up for a full blown AWB an ERPO’s along with every other gun restrictions they can think of.
If we as gun owners do not get our proverbial shit together and organize to work with all Orgs then we loose WA FOREVER!!!

Yes. This feels different. And I just don't see these people (fudds and apathetic lazy gun owners) waking up enough to shake off the stupid...

It is different this time, and i am afraid it will be worse than last time if nothing is done. In this day and age, it's all about Money influence to protect Constitutional rights.
Have you donated too, or joined a Pro 2A Organization with some influence? That's the only chance we have anymore. We are far outspent and the Liberal media is against the 2A.
The average American vacuums up all the Liberal bullshit MSM "facts and figures" and Votes that way. They want to feel "Protected, and they want the Government to do that for them...and the Liberals have the easy answer they want that won't work.
Trump better get his Shit together with the people who voted him into office, and it wasn't just 2A people who got him there either.

It does feel different this time. Always, the media screeches for gun control. "Something needs to be done!" "Only gun bans will solve the problem." "Ban Assault Weapons!"

"Universal Background Checks" will save lives! No recent mass shooting would have been stopped by back ground checks.

If you have Universal Background Checks you create a registry.

The Republicans may be ready to cave on Assault Weapons and high capacity magazines. If that happens, Trump is done.

No offense, but I wish i had your faith in our Government. Our opportunity for real change flipped awhile back. I see ATF rulings about AR Pistol Braces coming soon, along with some Legislation concerning "Assault Rifles" to pacify the Left for Votes.
I am not feeling good about this at all.
