It's easy to make the mistake of feeling sorry for these "birds."
The first time you see a big woodpecker family aggressively kicked out (the adults) and killed (all the babies) you'll realize what we're up against.
These filthy flying rat spawns of satan do this to EVERY cavity nesting domestic bird, then hunt and eat the young of other songbirds.

Kill them ALL.

Hmm... Starlings - why are they bad?

Was wondering the same thing... They seem to eat insects, though i prefer swallows for that purpose.

They like to destroy the nests of native species. They reproduce like mice.

I wish so bad I had some here to shoot. My neighbor has tons but won’t let me on his property with a gun.

Brother Matt, you are welcome to come visit us at the Chicken Ranch Compound. Bring any Tool of Freedom that you like, and kill as many flying rats as you can.
The Balrog is already well-versed in "good bird/bad bird". She comes a'running when she sees a starling.

My neighbor and I were just talking about this today. He has already started to build the downward “V” or “ladder” trap.

Used to be huge flocks near the slough 124th crossing the valley Redmond/Woodinville. None lately. Interesting.

Late start to season for me. While I am not quite in the hate level of PMB, I have a shoot on site rule on my property. Usually I use my bow, but pulled out the pellet gun.

Managed to knock down two. I would scan rear lawn while working in garage. Made a great sniper hide. 1st flew then crashed in neighbors yard, dog took care of cleaning that one up. This second one didnt.Image

What's the legality of killing these pests?

If arborists dont like them, smoke them. Just make sure you dont hit your neighbors windows or cars

Legal Status

Starlings are exempt from the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) of 1918, which was passed for the protection of migratory birds. Their nests, eggs, young, and/or adults may be removed or destroyed at any time. No permit is required.

A search on WDFW returns a few more results that point out the benefits of making life as difficult as possible for these flying rats.
