I'm considering buying a BUNCH of .50 cal ammo cans...Like 600 of them. I want 50 or so for my own use.

Curious if there's much interest in them to sell off the excess and what the fair going rate is for them? These are nice clean cans...

If I buy them I'd figure out where to set up a meeting place in the Federal Way area to disperse them.

Thoughts?

What would the cost per can be?

I'd be in for 3 if they were clean and reasonable priced.

No fat 50's closer than North Carolina right now or upcoming.

Pricing is totally gonna depend on what the auction goes for.

Closest source with any quantity is Colorado Springs at the moment.

I'm trying to sort out if it's worth it to buy a large lot and supply my gun buddies for a reasonable price for all of us.

I looked at those auctions buying on quantity.

As you know be aware to account for some damaged ones. But the biggest is storage and freight. Either you pick up or have them ship. It’s going to costs and then factor storage here.

If you are looking at this route. Maybe have a few key distribution points. People willing to store and do the distribution at key locations around WA. 3-4 would be ideal so it will also go to decreasing the storage needs at just one location.

I would think you could shop them around to gun/surplus stores and sell them pretty easy.

Yeah I figure the freight is gonna be around $3 a can if I go pick them up, plus average auction cost of $4+ a can.

It's kinda curious why they rarely ever show up for auction at JBLM or the PNW at all.

Unless they all get shipped to a hub for sale maybe.

Colorado Springs and North Carolina have them quite often.

Looking at pics online, it looks like probably 120 to a pallet, so you are talking 5 pallets of them

Usually 96 to a pallet, I can haul and store 13 pallets easily. Might try to buy 3 lots and reduce price per unit for shipping.

If one can do it.

It’s like many things. It’s a numbers game.
The more you buy the cheaper each item it is in the end. (Hopefully)

But that’s a lot to shell out to save a few bucks.
Not just in funds but more importantly time and a pain to disperse.
