Drop it submerged in Kroil for a month (if you can, remove the grips)
You'd be surprised how these will clean up.

Leave it just as is and hang it on the wall.
Much cooler in its original "as found" condition then it will be if you try and clean it up.

+1 :) It doesn't have too much value in serviceable condition but looks like coolest archeological "Wild West" artefact. It would be damn cool to date it somehow, though... Just imagine the period of production 1887-1940 (!) and what it represents in the American West history... Wow.

Smith and Wesson 1st Model Lemon Squeezer revolver, .32 caliber, serial #63521. The pistol is in good condition with a 3 ½” barrel. The pistol retains a significant amount of its nickel finish with moderatesurface rust at the muzzle. The trigger shows old, muted case color while the trigger guard retains some original blued finish. The bore is dark, the action crisp and markings are legible. The checkered hardrubber grips are in very good condition, showing some flattening and wear but fit well. The lot includes a leather, “JAY-PEE” snap holster. Est.$150-$300. (C+R).

I vote to take a good pic of it now, then clean it up, then hang it on the wall next to the "before" pic.
