It is official. My son signed his letter of intent to attend the Citadel in South Carolina on a 4 year 25% shooting scholarship. He has been competitive shooting in air rifle and small bore for the past 4 years 8n high school and on a club team. He has been invited to the Men's Junior Olympic Championship Shooting comps for the last 3 years and has qualified for the National Shooting comps for all 4 years.
He has also been awarded the US Army's JROTC 3 year academic scholarship that he will take advantage of as well.
We are proud of him and can't wait for him to get out of the house. Haha.
He declined his acceptance to multiple other schools to include UW, which was hard on me and my wife but he made his own decision.
Good things do come from teaching and allowing your kids to shoot.

Congratulations to both him and you! That's really impressive! And yup . . . gotta let him make his own choices. And let's face it, even though he made a difference choice than you would have, it certainly can't be considered a bad choice!

Pic if it works. I don't normally post pictures but my wife has decided to allow Pacific Indoor Tactical to use it for their fbook page as they are amazing sponsors of the teams.

That's awesome. I'm a UW grad and wouldn't send my daughter there for an on-campus education right now.
Did he get a scholarship through JROTC that doesn't require ROTC or future service? I ask b/c I'm an officer recruiter these days and it's in my wheelhouse.

JROTC and he will have to obligate. We are still waiting to hear if her gets the one from the Navy for 4 years.
Not an issue on the obligation. Most of my family has served including myself for 21 years. He will be the first officer though.

Very cool. And SC is a state you can enjoy 4 years of college in.

Although JROTC WAS NOT a requirement for the scholarship.
