I like the feedback system the way it is.
I like the fact that I can read a thread, that takes up the whole width of the page. Instead of having to give up space to sidebars and more sidebars.
I'd like a like button.

 :plusone:

Full width is great, and I really dislike when it is restricted to something like 800px wide, like a lot of Wordpress blogs. Tons of unnecessary scrolling.
Feedback per member is great, like we have it now.
A like button would be nice.

If a "Like" button was added, would Zuckerberg sue or threaten to crush us?

  1. Secure - If it's not secure, then there is no reason for it to exist.
  2. Reliable - If it's not reliable, and is always crashing, people won't visit it.
  3. Extensible - If it doesn't scale, can't be upgraded, and will have to be replaced every X years, losing all the data, then it'll slowly kill itself.
  4. Usable - This is a forum, centered around posting topics, and discussing them. Never forget the primary purpose.
  5. Customizable - No solution will be perfect, and we'll want to be able to add things. Open source, or with a strong community following and plug-in options, can greatly enhance a solution.
  6. Inexpensive - It's great if somebody finds an amazing solution, but if it's $100k a year, then it might as well not exist.
  7. Active Development - Regular updates, bugfixes, and patches for security holes will keep the board alive.
  8. Polls - If I can't post polls, what will I post?

Making adding pictures as simple as Facebook.

DING DING DING, we have a winner folks!!! I have never figured out how to post pics since I’m basically computer illiterate unless someone shows me in person...
On other boards it’s so easy to post pics, well you know even a caveman could do it...
Like button is a definite “LIKE”
Feedback is a must have & I haven’t used the chat feature so can’t say one way or another.

Thanks for all that you guys do to keep the lights on around here. :wink05:

But why do we have to post our pictures on another site before we post them here...we had to do that back in the 90's...we need to get updated.

Yes it does! One of the features the new software/site HAS TO HAVE is the ability to auto-resize photo (not just in height and width, but in file size as well). Ever since we turned on attachments on WaGuns, we outgrew our "new" server in 12 months, that's all attachments. Just a few months ago, Steve and I paid to increase the disk size, which is what ultimately started the internal discussion of v2.0.

Can a user go in and delete their old pictures to free up space?
I probably have a bunch of them stored locally.

You can, but it's not something we recommend. People post photos to help in their post, if you remove the photo, the post/thread may not flow. Don't sweat it, yet.

For me...i really enjoy the site as it is. Simple, clean, easy to use, and (for the most part) reliable.

I do use tapatalk so that would be a nice feature to have included. But if it doesnt make the cut then so be it...ill just wait till im on the laptop/desktop (or ever now and then use the mobile site).

A feedback system of some sort is always nice. Be it like it is now or just a master thread people can post to and mods/whoever can update the top post with a list or something.

Likes are something I personally so no real benefit from. Im on a few other forums that use them and they really dont seem to add anything. Either you get people who just like every single post or someone does post something cool and everyone just "likes" it and theres no conversation. I much prefer when someone posts something cool and those hwo enjoy it actually post even if its just to say thats awesome instead of just seeing a bunch of likes and nothing else.

Feedback is good.
If someone has -1 and positive along with it, I ask them to explain it to me.
-2+, won't deal with them at all.

You know what's been cool lately?
Dark-themed websites. Facebook and YouTube have a dark mode now, and it's great.
I'm a cave troll by nature, so any website that has an option for a dark background is just more pleasant to be on.
Not a requirement by any stretch, but it'd be nice for my troll eyes.
