To give everybody an update to all of this...Laymen's terms, we have gotten too fat for our current pants.
Over 1 million posts Almost 100,000 topics 12,500 members An average of 314 NEW posts per day Our current database is too old and frail to handle the awesomeness that is happening in our pants. Solutions: Working on creating a sandbox site (test site) with a newer-est version of phpbb. The key is to see how easy it is to migrate/update as well as to mod to make it look halfway decent and not be too graphically overwhelming. This takes some time as it is all me for this part of it and my job currently is fairly demanding. I do hope to have a site functional within a week for testing and modding. If everything goes well, there may be an invite to a small selection of beta testers to make sure the site works how they want it to. Then, full migration and launch. So, bear with us as we are slow, then fast then slow. Know when you hit SUBMIT, that sometimes it will take a second to work, no need to hit it again. |
