Hi WaGuns,

New shooter from the Snohomish area, finally own a home with enough room for a safe to start my collection. Hoping to connect with folks who will want to show me some spots on Mtn Loop and Cascade Loop. Big time proponent of Leave No Trace, former Boy Scout, and love Scuba and Whitewater Rafting. Thanks for the info I've already grabbed off of some of your threads!

Jim

Welcome aboard Jim. Soon after you start collecting, you will realize that you need a bigger home for more safes.

Truer words were never spoken. :ROFLMAO:

Welcome to WaGuns, Jim! What kind of guns have been the seeds of your soon-to-be-enormous collection?

Thanks fellas!

I'm starting small with a 10/22 to train on basics, I was in the Scouts for many years (No, I didn't make Eagle, but I did get the Silver award in Venturing later) and I know it's easy to shoot/maintain .22lr and it seems like it's pretty easy to find ammo.

A friend of mine is supposedly gifting me a 12ga of unknown make as a wedding gift, but I got married shortly before Covid so we haven't been able to meet up (he lives all the way down in Vancouver)

After that I'd like a handgun for home defense, and for that I'll probably be asking you guys what direction to go.

My wife is a city girl from Seattle and had never fired a gun until we started dating, so it's been a slow process of whittling away some of those gnawing fears and showing her gun safety to get to this point where she's comfortable having them in the house. After six years together and about a year and a half of marriage, the safe is installed and it's finally time!!!!

I like it! The 10/22 is a fun gun no matter how old you are . . . can't go wrong with that. And any 12-gauge will put a smile on your face!

Suggestion . . . see if your wife would like to come join us for an awesome handgun class: https://adventureprotection.org/. I guarantee that she will have a fun day, she'll learn a lot, and she'll probably come home and say, "Jim, I'm gonna need my own safe, I'm going shopping."

You are on the right path!
1. Signed up on WaGuns, check.
2. Acquired 10/22, check.
3. Shotgun available, go get it!
4. Need pistol for home defense, look for training classes in your area. Find local range to shoot rental guns. Try several models.
5. Obtain CPL? If not, Gitter done. His and Hers.
6. Search for ammo. Ammoseek.com
7. Sign up for the WaGuns 2A fundraiser
8. Strongly consider getting a .22LR pistol for training. She will thank you.

You are well on your way. I'm sure others will chime in with more. LOL. GO!

Welcome. Join a shooting range to support local. Seattle Rifle & Pistol in Machias should be opening up soon for new membership.
