Hi, New member here, actually joined a few weeks ago, first time had a chance to "look" around. Have been into shooting sports for some time, have a few rifles and hand guns, shoot targets, used to be a member of a local shooting range, but their attitude did not give me that safe feeling when you around people with loaded weapons, now getting into reloading, what else? live just north of Seattle.

Welcome!
What have you done for reloading so far? What kind of equipment are you using?

Howdy. I understand your trepidation at public ranges, but until fire season eases, what other choice is there if you aren't a member (TTM) at a private club; even then you are responsible for your own safety and the polite instruction of others (I recognize the irony of *me* citing civility ) Anyhow, welcome!

Welcome to WaGuns!
Sounds like you are well into the sport.
There Are so many niches to this from antique to modern high tech. CQB to long range etc.
Reloading is all a different related activity in my book. A good one for those willing to put in the time (research and tinkering).

I am going to try to respond to all of you (new to this forum thing, this format anyway):
For reloading, have done some .223 and .308 my son said that 223s worked great, hand guns next, using and old RCBS set up, got me some dies from RCBS and Hornady so far.
Shooting clubs...in my experience so far, had become so uneasy, it is like walking on eggshells and haven help you if you don't agree with the "collective" add short tempers and loaded guns...suddenly all of the "warm and fuzzies" are gone!!! My interests are in a long distance shooting, I was trained to shoot in the Soviet school ROTC program (and I do mean Soviet). I have the discipline and I know how to handle a weapon, but you get those "know it all" range masters (one of the local rages especially) that treat you as if you were a 2 years old idiot (took several looks to identify my sons rifle, Tavor)... indoor ranges are expensive especially if you have more then one shooter and if you would like some privileges...
I will be looking for some info were to go out and shoot, somewhere were I can control safety of my son and I. Last place my body and I have gone, we left (or rather were chased out) because a group of people drove in, and right in front of the firing line!? Two tables set up and with two shooters sitting behind the rifles.

I think it's fair to say that you'll always be safer shooting at an established range than out at a "pit" with other shooters. Yes, dealing with a range's rules and rangemasters can be a hassle at times, but it's a double-edged sword . . . those hassles are exactly why it's safer than being out in an uncontrolled area where there are no rules.
Or maybe it's more accurate to say that at a pit, everyone plays by their own rules -- so you're really only as safe as the least safe shooter out there. At least at an established range, everyone plays by the same rules.
