Looking for a smith in the north of Seattle area, that can tig weld my G3 together using a PTR receiver, just welding the trunion, cocking tube and rear sight base.

It was probably o/a welded on the original G3's considering the era... Guys that can competently do that are few and far between, i'm really good on sheet metal, but there is no way i would try a one off, sheet metal to probably heat treated machined part... but i would any day on my own kits!

Tig is also great and in skilled hands is as good or better, and i'm sure g3 production moved to it pretty early on.

I'm local and could use a bending jig if you happen to have one.

A jig I don't have.....do have a 5D Tactical AR routing jig. My receiver is a serial numbered PTR, seems like some welders are afraid they're going to get their pee-pee smacked for doing a few welds on a firearm...it's strange.

Just saw this and could easily fullfil this request. Logistically it might not be worth it to you as I'm in Tumwater. Let me know.

I would take you up on it, but the getting it there and back kind presents a logistical issue. If I don't find somebody up here, I may just take you up on it.

I'll be in Ballard this weekend and can get it to Rotten, then I'll be back in Seattle at Sail Sand Point the weekend of the 10th/11th as well as at Seatac / Tukwilla area the 25th.

The cocking tube length past the receiver is critical. You don't just "weld it on".
If the dimensions are correct, you will have problems unlocking the bolt.

There was a fella that did nice roller lock work. He was at the WAC show, often with Eric of Blackwell Industries. This was twenty-ish years ago and I can not recall his name.
Not much help but it might be a start.
