I am in the process of installing a new door on my gun closet.. I think I want an electronic lock (not connected to internet just electric) the ones I have been looking at are from Kwikset. My question is can I create a key that will unlock my front door (also kwikset) and my gun closet but not allow my kids's keys to unlock the closet? Like a master key system that would be in residential grade. It seems lie it should work but I thought I would ask an expert.

PS not sure if this is the right section delete or move if it is not.

If you are referring to the newer kwikset locks that you can change the keying on at home, no, they don't allow more than one key at a time.

Look into either Abloy or Medeco deadbolts. You should be able to do what you want with some of theirs.

I believe any of these would work:

They're a lot more expensive and you won't find them at HD. You can get them online and at locksmiths.

You may find that buying local is cheaper by the time you get multiple keys cut and all that too, and much easier if you need a copy made at some point.
