Yesterday I tore down the engine out of my boom truck. Was feeling it this morning. All that stuff is heavy

Still have more to do to get to the cylinders and pistons but the weather was nice and I wanted to get siding on the house today

I can't tell you how many times that has happened to me . . . I'm right in the middle of a massive truck engine rebuild, and I need to go finish rebuilding my house.

Jesus. Testosterone much?!!

Dont feel too bad, Scott. Your not the only one, lol!

Last week the crankshaft on one of our sawmills broke in half. Everybody is 2-4 months out on engine work. So after two trips to Oregon to source parts and several to Tacoma and Fife I have enough to start assembly tomorrow.

So my shop looks the same. Like a machinery bomb went off.

Then I was dumb/brave enough to buy a dump truck in Maple Valley that hasn't been on the road in 15 years and I drove it home today also! After drying up the fuel supply twice on the road, we actually found a third/hidden fuel filter on the passenger side of the truck. It was plugged solid with garbage from junk in the fuel tank so we unhooked it and ran the feed and return line into a 5 gallon can that I put on the passenger side floor board inside the truck with me

Had to stop and fill it once in Enumclaw and another time in Kapowsin.

DT466/Allison combo ran and shifted great. Only 97,000 miles on the rig.

It was an adventurous day!

Days like that really test patience and problem solving ability. A true test of character

Glad I'm not the only one

Being on the side of the road in king county M/V is a little different than the woods or gravel pit. Ya can’t just flush a filter out roadside, that might kill a few hundred salmon somehow. A million eyes passing by while you try to carefully revamp a fuel system with out making any kind of mess is nerve wrecking!

This is the last stop, topping off the fiver!

Pffft!

Throw a blue tarp on, and pile a bunch of bikes around it

You'll fit right in and can do whatever you want

Bonus points if you talk to yourself/other person that's not there

A fukton. That is all.

Take it from a pro. Don't move. Don't sell your house. Saltier than shit and coconut water is running out.

Replaced the plastic on the door striker post on my truck.

Used a piece of really old cpvc pipe. This stuff is from back when they first started marketing it to replace copper.

Marked around the post mechanism, to make sure I put it back in the same spot.

Removed the post. Cut the pipe to fit, and slipped it on. Then put the post back on.

This fit like it was made for it!! Best fit I have ever gotten out of a piece of pipe, there.

In the pic, it is on the left. On the right is the passenger side which still has it's original plastic.

The problems were that the door rattled and banged, while going down my gravel road, and anywhere else that I would hit the tiniest bump.

I had to SLAM the door, to get it to close and latch.

And lots of wind noise in addition to the rattling, when on the highway.

Now, it closes with just a small push from one finger. Tightly, and quietly.

No more rattle or bang.

I'll have to get it out on the highway to find out if the wind noise was fixed.

I've got a big pile of tin, nobody knows what shapes it's in.

I don't think that's coming from the truck...

Seriously though, nice work

I've got a box of the hinge bushings if you need some

I don't think so.

I'll look them over tomorrow, to be sure.

Thank you!
