I was given a hefty garden cart and was initially excited, but it turns out that the bed supports have sprung and with any kind of weight, the bed sags enough to catch the wheels when turning. Is it possible to recover it? Attachment: IMG_8324D.jpeg I'd initially hoped to replace the bed supports, but the bed mesh is welded directly to the supports. Is it better to weld/bolt a new, flat bracket across the top of the bed supports, over the top of the mesh bed? Attachment: IMG_8326D.jpeg Attachment: IMG_8325D.jpeg Attachment: IMG_8327D.jpeg

Grind the welds to the expanded metal, unbolt the brackets from the frame and put a 2x4 under there that goes under the side angle Iron on left and right. Or, a piece of Steel across the top welded to the side rails and bolted/welded to the existing bracket locations. The problem with that is the crappy mild steel bracket it came with. An "L" channel piece of steel welded underneath between the expanded metal and the existing bracket would really stiffen it up. Many ways to fix "rig" that to work, but do you have a welder and angle grinder? It's MacGyver time.

It looks like you can unbolt the bed frame from the wheels? Maybe you could install some kind of riser.

I’d just get a piece of expanded metal or plywood and slap it right on top.

Sigh . . . you guys, always doing things the hard way. Just let some air out of the tires. Or get smaller wheels.

Installing some kind of riser between the bed and the axle brackets. Maybe some treated 2x4 or 4x4 with longer bolts. Not to discredit the other ideas, this just seems like the easiest approach.

Cut/weld and repeat until shit works... Neighbor collapsed his hand truck a couple months back while going down steps with an appliance, i had to emergency borrow it for moving massive firewood rounds in it's damaged state.(mine was strapped to a 1940s ford v8 under a pile of parts) I ran it until it fully gave out. I kept it another week, bent it back and added bracing that it should have had from the factory. He's happy because it is better than when he first bought it.
Get a 110v flux core wire feed and a 4" angle grinder and go crazy.

A couple of thick fender washers at each of those bolt locations should be all the body lift it needs to clear the tires. Easy peasy.

I gotta say, what a shit design and material selection. I wonder what the original load cap was.
Agree - Simple without impacting basket volume or grind/cut etc be just to jack up the basket, I can visualize other fixes without welding but involve drilling and minimal space.

Thick sister strap or angle iron (actually better even if you have to notch for wheel)
