I'm kinda tired of stretching hoses all around my shop. I think I want to run hard lines, and then put mutiple outlets around to useful areas. I have work benches in two different areas, and then having two more for about the mill and lathe would be nice. I do have a pretty nice hose reel, and I figure I'll mount that over by the outside door, so I can stretch a hose out to fill auto tires and such.

It looks like a lot of guys use pex or some sort of HDPE tubing, and then fittings. Last time I did this kind of thing, I did it all in PVC. I'm not bougie enough to run iron pipe or brass tubing. What's hits the quality/price/ease cross points best?

Was enough to get 3 separate drops across a 30x36 shop with the compressor in the center of the back wall.

How big is your shop? iron tube isnt that expensive.... Copper is better, but ofcourse pricy, but as long as you learn to flux stuff properly and flow solder you can do a really nice setup.

Copper all the way. It’s a buy once, cry once but the fittings are so much better and it won’t deteriorate or leak nearly as fast as pex or galvi. I know a good plumber out your way who loves to trade goods for services. If you’re interested let me know.

I really can't justify copper. I think we might only be here for another few years. I'm sure whom ever buys this place isn't going to give a single fuck about copper lines (especially since the house was built with CPVC water lines).

Something about the HDPE soft plastic lines kinda makes me cringe, but it looks like guys have had really good luck with it. I might have to try that.

I used 3/4 pex 12 years ago. It's inside the wall, with 150 psi. I have push quick connects sticking out of the wall ever ten feet. It's been awesome. Easy to modify, less than a few hundred bucks including the tool. If you want more info you are welcome to swing by. You can even borrow my tool.

That’s a great offer! 100’ roll of 3/4” pex is all of $50. Barb fittings and compressor fittings shouldn’t run more than $100 depending on how many you want. If you can borrow the pex expander tool that’s great savings too.

I'm already all set up with Pex tools, so that is one of the reasons I was thinking of going that route.
