It's become a routine now. I love/hate red cedar. Easy in many ways to work - BUT dust is toxic and it is dead soft. Mask and vacuum. And lord help you get a perfect smooth surface, ready to finish and you hit it with dust brush plastic or wood sweeper handle. Just run through the grits to get the old finish off* stop at 150 or so, spray down with straight alcohol to help kill mold/mildew, allow to dry well and resume sanding.....to your choice. I used to go 400, 320 way more than needed and 220 no one will notice!

I used the same "Teak Oil" as last time. Keep it covered through the cold wet and good for a couple winters. Exposed, goes to shit quick. I love just putting a white tarp on and tying it down ~Nov-March

Sorry no presanding pics. Not as pink anymore. Slowly aging away color. But still in great shape. In fact some new patterns emerge.

Looks nice, Pablo. Am I the only one that sees a bearskin in that third photo?

What are you going to do with the slab?

Nice job, are you going to fill the voids, if so what will you use?

I miss working with wood.

I guess I am missing the bearskin(?)

Back out to the (new) patio. It's been the party table for 5-6 years. Stand and lean or sit and drink. :thumbsup2:

"Voids" are not to be filled - I just drizzle lots of oil in there and call it good. They're natural and in reality not big.

I like working with Walnut better. I made nice slab for under my office workbench ABOVE my Doug fir slab little table

Haha, thanks Chris. Yeah, between the color and the way it's "stretched" out, and the ragged sides, it kinda looked like a bear rug at first glance to me. :)

If you squint you can see a chrono in the wood pattern.

Always love pics of your soft wood.

Seriously though, my limited work with cedar gives me great appreciation for your labors.
