Powerful but not too huge. Mobile but heavy. Gas.

I am finally deep enough into geezer mode to buy a chipper/shredder to feed the compost pile. 2" branches, leaves, watermelons, sun dried carcasses, etc - mechanically reduce and then nicely rot.

Brands? Ideas?

We had a Sears 5hp model with two feed system and I would not recommend anything under 5 horsepower. It was a gutless wonder.

I would guess so...we have not purchased an upgrade chipper, so I cannot lend any advice on what it would take to gobble the rest of the bamboo in our GREEN HELL.

I’ve got a John Deere that I don’t use. Don’t remember what model or hp. I’ll let you know.

Renting is always an option.

DR Power attachment for my field/brush mower is tempting.

3 point mount attachment for my tractor is an option.

As much as I expect to use a chipper it's still hard to justify the cost or ownership versus renting.
