I’m doing a bit of noodling on how to pull my dump trailer with my boom truck. The boom truck has a pintle hitch but the dump trailer uses a ball hitch

Not sure which would be easier to convert to the other. I’m thinking that I should change the trailer over to an adjustable channel on the front so I can change between a lunette ring and a regular hitch, as well as adjust the height

I'm thinking I need to weld something like this to the front of the trailer:

So I can switch between this:

Or this:

Anyone done something like that?

I would think adding a standard hitch receiver on the truck would be more practical than modifying the trailer. Lots more bumper pull trailers out there , than there are pintel mount trailers.

ETA : you'd likely need an extension and a drop hitch to get around the pintel , depending on the elevations of the 2 hitches

The pintle hitch on the truck is a bit more complicated. It’s got an air chamber on the back side to take up any slop

I do think I'd add a standard hitch to the truck, under that.
